Be Authentic, Audacious, and Unapologetically You.

Hey there!

I’m Dr. Mel, first-gen American with Trinidadian roots, a mohawk of curls, and a story that’s anything but ordinary. Imagine a household buzzing with the spirit of the Caribbean, parents laying down the hustle so thick, it’s a wonder we ever slept. They dreamt big for us—private schools, classical piano lessons, summer STEM programs, and the encouragement to bring our (my brother, sister, and I) best selves to everything we did. Their message? Be fierce, be kind, and never shy away from hard work.

My parents taught me critical lessons just from their very existence.

My dad, the exec who never missed my races, taught me grit without ever saying the word.  And the value of supporting your children even when work life gets crazy!  My mom, a titan in heels, showed me the power of “No” when it mattered most—especially if it meant protecting her own. They weren’t just my parents; they were my masterclass in living with intention and love.

I was always THAT kid. You know, who begged my mom to go to school at 2 even though, I wasn’t potty trained yet.  But don’t tempt me with a challenge..lol.  Weeks later I was at my pre-school, potty trained and all and having whole meltdowns if my mama tried to pick me up early.  Perhaps this is why I stayed in school for the next 26 years.

A collage of two photos of women outdoors. The top photo shows a woman with sunglasses in a pink and yellow floral dress standing on a cobblestone street against a cityscape with buildings and a clear blue sky. The bottom photo shows a woman with colorful hair in mid-air jump on a sidewalk with trees and parked cars in the background.

A Mission to Empower Authenticity

I was also the one to argue my points with teachers if I felt like their logic didn’t make sense and the one to ask for exactly what I wanted without fear because what could it hurt?  That energy? It’s never faded. Not when shifting schools disrupted my world and not when a softball game at 13 turned into a life lesson about boundaries, owning my voice, and claiming respect—thanks, Dad.

That resilience saw me through the “ideal dream” chase: acing tests, attending prestigious schools, stacking awards, and landing a Ph.D. But dreams have a way of getting twisted, especially when they aren’t truly fulfilling. I landed what I thought was my dream job, only to meet the nightmare of a toxic work culture head-on.  Being called “Black B*^ch,” being told I was only there to fill a quota, facing pay inequality.  The stories go on and on.  It was a battle that tested every ounce of my spirit.

Walking away was the hardest and best decision I’ve ever made. It wasn’t just about leaving a job; it was about reclaiming my life and rewriting my story on my terms. Now, I RUN my own ish, building and maintaining a thriving business that’s all about empowerment, authenticity, and breaking free from toxic norms.

A collage of five photographs featuring a woman with colorful hair and her friends. The first photo shows her smiling outdoors with friends lying on the grass. The second photo has her flexing her arm and smiling inside. The third photo shows her dressed up with a man outdoors. The fourth photo displays her sitting at a table with poker chips and cash, smiling at the camera.
